Nealytic is traditionally associated with the beginnings of people settling down and being in control of their food supplies. But i think, in a way, it's almost more than that, because even the people who were hunting and gathering built structures that we might consider monumental. Even the mesdolithic people had sometimes had massive, great shell middens. And as an idea that theym may have been thought of as monumental, but certainly you get the idea that people did have time to do these great communal acts like building stone tombs,. or great, huge earthworks in the landscape. We're talking about neolithic life in the british isles here.
