The Tendency to Compare

Peter had just been restored and forgiven for his denial of Jesus Christ. He immediately asks about someone else: What about John? You didn't say the same thing to John. Tell John he's going to suffer. I want John, you need to suffer. It might be that Peter wanted to compare a callings. Maybe he wanted to compare the amount of suffering they would endure. And when we do, it steals gratitude from our hearts, good from others, and glory from God.
