The Oracle Prophecies of Apollo
Apollo didn't want Daphnis to be that involved. He simply used the oracle as a mouthpiece and told her the prophecies directly. This turned out to be a pretty good business decision. Cresis, the greedy king of Lydia, came to ask for advice about going to war against Persia. Should we go to war against these measly fools? The oracle took her time in her reply. Finally she stated, if Lydia goes to war, a great empire will surely fall. And because Cresis was so sure of himself, he went to war immediately,. But his army was soon defeated and it was the Lydia Empire that fell.
