What Makes a Good Engineering Manager?
The breadth of problems and philosophies to solving those problems in engineering management is just so poorly established. So the way that I would summarize that is that it's a little more fuzzy about what makes a good engineering manager. Make sure that you have a portfolio of answers at the ready for common management questions, such as what's your philosophy on performance management? The best engineering manager candidates that I have interviewed have a very crisp management philosophy and very concrete tenets about how they approach a wide variety of different problems.
