With Latin America's demographic whitening well underway, all that was left was economic and industrial modernization. Most Latin American countries did not have experience or extensive capital to invest in infrastructure. So they invited British, French and American investors to build up Latino economies. From 1870 to 1913, British investment in Latin America went from 85 million pounds sterling to 757 pounds sterling.
