Is There a Process for Writing a Transcript?

There are some used cases where you want a very visual and spatial end product. But i think much more commen is a case where the process along some of the steps asks for such a form map. For example, if you're eventually going to write an essay, the final artfact is going to be plain text - so how do you navigate that jump? I find at least it's quite hard to start idea ing and brain storming and sketching an essay, like base clain, a text editor. Or sometimes people, i think, they jump tools like they have an outline for their essay, and they need go type it up.
