Are You a Member of the House of Lords?

There are two different ways of being divinity in the ancient world. One is an unbegotten deity and another one where he's a begotten deity. In biblical usage, we could talk about Enoch and Elijah being assumed into heaven. That would be a type of being promoted into vinity. Is it something that's hereditary and you have by pure being and biological dissent? Or is it something that you get elected to on the basis of merit?
