Are You a 10 Year Old?
Students are told they should pick a major early focus on that and work very quickly towards that goal as efficiently as possible. When you were 10, you didn't know all the options. You have to investigate fields that might be of interest to you. And if you can't explore things in college, then when do you get to explore it? It's much harder to change your plan at 35.
