The author says he was able to consult a lot of archival material for the book. He also found some unexpected sources, such as Russian newspapers in Berlin and advertisements from Hollywood movies. The novel is about an emigreser who tries to get his work translated into American English. It's set during the Second World War but ends up being published after the war.
