Fiat currency itself is an oxymoronic form of money, says Julian Zelizer. It's deceitful, intrinsically deceitful, something like that, he says. He asks: Would lockdowns or Operation Warp Speed have been possible without it? "You couldn't have done it in a normal, debt-based fiat currency system," writes Zelizer.
