There's a kind of cryptic reference in kirkegarde's journals where he refers to a thorn in his flesh, some malady he had. It seems to have been physical. And people have speculated that it was some kind of condition, maybe of a sexual nature, that contributed to the decision not to marry regina. Nobody knows for sure. He seems to have gone to a brothel, which perhaps sug s he wasn't impotent. But then again, the visit to the brothel might have given him syphilis, or might have give him the fear that he had syphilis. Who knows? I don't think anyone know for sure. So having become engaged
