Is Social Media Too Focused on the Past?

The internet, as a mediator of human inneractions, is not a place. It is a time. I mean this in a literal sense. The layers of artifice that mediate our online interactions mean that everything that comes to us on line comes to us from the past. We are literally building archives that are documents of what has already been said and what has already happened. And then that probably contributes to the senseof anxiety of having to deal with an uncertainty that we can't resolve.
