The Dangers and Benefits of Working With Pathogens
Wendy Barkley is Professor of Influenza Virology at Imperial College London. I asked her if we should halt this work altogether. She said that working with pathogens is dangerous and must be performed under appropriate containment levels. We need to clearly state what we believe the risks are, then weigh up the likelihood of them occurring,. And then think about if there are indeed any benefits.
