The History of Italy

In 1893, Leonardo Censchulli is born in the southern town of Montela, Italy. Her mother Amelia got pregnant as the result of a brutal rape and her parents force her to marry her rapist. She's openly resentful, if not abusive toward her own child. The relationship gets worse after Leonardo falls in love with an older man named Rafael Penseardi. And so her promising future disappears before her eyes.
