The Relationship to the Teachings of the Buddha

Rumi: What's the fuss when we will all go one by one through that same gate? In this story, the Buddha continues to wander with a company of friends. He comes to the banks of the Ganges River and offers teachings to cross the flood. The Dalai Lama wakes up in the morning and takes this vow from Shanti Deva - may I be a boat, a bridge, a raft for all who need to crossed the flood.
