You Don't Have to Dig a Pit to Recognize the Distance
In the book of Job, God tells job to repent in dust and ashes. He also says he should offer animals as burnt offerings for his servant's sake. The point at which god wants us to arrive is repentance and humility. But it's not out of a sense of our absolute nothingness. Rather, it's out of ta sense of our relative nothingness. Compared to god, we know where we stand. We kneel. And that's the position job finally finds himself in,. physically, mentally, spiritually, because he knows god for who god is.
