Until that book, i'd only published books of poems. And in a poem, even if it's in first person, there's still some sort of artistic distance between the eye and the poet. I think maybe that you have to let go of, to say a when actually, this wasn't working, ye failed to write about that. It felt vulnerable. Am you know?
