Okaa postulated a form of diffusionism, the idea that culture started somewhere and then it was diffused. But Renee's theory gives us an explanation of these resemblance and differences between different cultures. It says they all come out from this same mechanism which generates them. This view pits Girard against several powerful currents in contemporary thought.
