The Purpose of Comparative Education
There has been a strong tradition in the field of what's now called methodological nationalism, but there's also been movements away from that. The purpose of comparison specifically of deeply contextualized comparison is to better understand one's own society. So we can see that the field has in one sense emerged from an ethics of deep reflexivity.
