With no direction, people pursue the things that advance their own short term interests. When individuals are involved in too many disparate activities, even good activities, they can fail to achieve their essential mission. An essential intent is just one decision that settles a thousand later decisions. It's like deciding you're going to become a doctor stead of a lawyer. The crime which bankrupts men and states is that of job work declining from your main design to serve a turn here or there.

Regardless of where you fall on this spectrum, becoming clear on what’s most important will help you find purpose and direction in your life.
In this episode, I discuss how you can gain greater clarity by creating an essential intent. And I share the simple structure I use to create my own essential intent.
