In the early 2010s, Rob Pinkerton worked with colleagues to apply his rainforest ecology skills to house bugs specifically. He discovered just how little we actually know about our arthropod remains. But he also realized how much we might benefit from these bugs if we stopped zapping all of them dead.
Our houses are homes to hidden worlds of bugs. And the more ecologists explore those worlds, the more they realize that some of our tiny roommates actually have a lot to teach us.
