In your dissertation you state that historical analogies are particularly compelling during crises. Can you tell us why that is? Crisis decision making almost inevitably, invariably, involves very, very pressing problems. And i guess understandably, decision makers grasp for historical analogies to guide them. In fact, there's quite a body of scholarship on decision making during crisis and among the findings is that the tendency to seek lessons from past crises.
