Study on Gastric Content Evaluation Using POCUS for Delayed Procedural Sedation

Exploring the use of Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) to assess gastric content in pediatric patients facing delayed procedural sedation due to fasting mandates, this chapter unveils the weak to moderate predictive value of solid fasting duration in determining ultrasound-based risk categories. Despite extended fasting periods, no patients shifted from high to low risk categories, showcasing the significance of this prospective study's insights for pediatric emergency departments.
