The Role of Organized Crime in the Russian Occupation of Crimea
Rowan Williams: We've been tracking this kind of specific manifestation of the state crime nexus since at least 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea. He says it's almost endemic and ingrained in political capital within former Russian former Soviet societies. And that's just continued that co-opting of serious organized crime actors, organized crime groups, individuals of power and influence to undertake activity on behalf of the state. But as you say, it certainly isn't you in Ukraine.
