Is There a Right to Associate With Other People?

Children have a right to associate with both parents, even if only one of them is granted full custody over the child. It's my thought that if a child comes to associate with somebody who is black or gay and something like that, but the parent of the child is strongly racist or homophobic or sexist? That sort of belief could tarnish a child's ability to respect themselves when they grow up.
