If inhabitants of urac had kept written records on papyrus, parchment, wood or any similar organic material, these records would have disintegrated eons ago. Instead, the urak used special styluses to impress an ever evolving group of written languages onto clay tablets. We know far more about the ancient civilizations of the fertile crescent than we do of much, much more recent ones such as goths and roman times.
