The Theology of the Body
The union between the body and soul means that physical relationships acquire an interior motivation. The human person is inviolable in his interior life and in his body, but he can communicate his interior life through the body to another even if not fully. In that unique relationship between a married man and a married woman, a person can allow the other person into a physically intimate sphere of their interior world.
