Did Major John Andre Really Surrender West Point?
The British were all set to go through with it. They had troops loaded into ships in New York. The plan was to sail up the Hudson River and attack West Point, which with Arnold's help would quickly fall. But before they could go through with that, they needed to have a face-to-face meeting with Arnold. And so decision was made.
