Betty was surrounded by soldiers as she made her way through the jungle. One of Cony's senior commanders tried to stop her, but another persuaded her to keep going. Betty says that after spending four hours talking with Cony, he told her: 'You can go now' But when she didn't return in time for a meeting next day, they were forced to kill her.
