The Importance of Grounding Morality

A religious perspective also explains why we should favor the well-being of humans over other conscious creatures. Some atheists might object that religious ethics fair no better than Harris's consequentialism, because God could arbitrarily command us to do evil. That's an important topic that deserves its own treatment in future episodes. For now, I would just say that grounding morality is the best hope we have to establish moral truths like intrinsic human dignity and intrinsic evils.
