To be simple, you need to understand the cause of whatever it is thati that you're doing. So if you are doing something and you don't understand why you're doing it, or the purpose behind it, then you're not really going to be able to make something simple. Understanding your knowledge of causes and the foundation helps you to reduce the things later on and make it simple. And terminology can get extremely complicated when you start talking about knowledge of causes - whether ps s and p y of x and ye. I like that there's as analogy i have in my head.
