In 1808, a conflict breaks out because Napoleon has effectively forcibly removed the Spanish monarch from the throne of Spain and puts his own brother in this place. As he's been doing that, he's also invaded Portugal to force them to join the continental system,. Now Britain doesn't move when Portugal's invaded, which is a really contentious thing; we always like to say that Portugal is Britain's oldest ally. We move when Spain rises up in revolt against Napoleon's summarily toppling the Spanish monarch.
