The Doctrine of Particular Redeeming Impacts Preaching the Gospel

It was Spurgeon who used the analogy of bridges to talk about definite atonement or universal atonement. He talked about how he would prefer to have a very narrow bridge that made it all the way over the river as compared to a very wide bridge that only got you halfway. We proclaim Christ's death to sinners and we call them to believe in his death, assuring them if they genuinely believe in the work that the Son has done, they will be forgiven. In that sense, it strengthens the proclamation of the gospel.
