Rome eventually does beat Carthage. They end up with a great general of their own who just studies and rips off all the tactics of Hannibal. And then they're like, you know what, all those Greeks over there who sided with Carthage, we need to go punish them. And they succeed. So he was just tactically, he was really good. I mean, granted, he took freaking elephants across the mountains. That's amazing. Can you imagine in the age of poking each other with sticks, dude rolls across the mountains with war elephants?
