The Role of Adults in Risk-Taking Behavior
There is heightened ventral strident activation in adults too when they engage in risks and receive rewards. It's just not as high as it is in adolescents. Adolescents actually are very good at regulating their behavior. They have not a broken brain or undeveloped prefrontal cortex, but a regulatory system that can be engaged to meet their motivational goals.
