The fear is it never actually serves you. If you can be prepared for the danger, then perhaps you can get away from the danger. But if you're paralyzed by fear, it's actually going to do the opposite of what you're hoping that the fear will do. It won't prevent the harm. It will create a bunch of harm along the way until the inevitable does happen - which always does happen.
