Introduction

Thomas Sowell is an American economist, social theorist and senior fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution. Today we're going to explore Sowell's views about what he calls crusades or moral crusades. I've invited a special guest on the show, a teacher who pushed back against a popular moral crusade in his career. Paul Rossi used to teach math at an elite private high school in New York City called the Grace Church School. He felt that many aspects of this work were causing problems for his students so he decided to speak out by publishing an article which unleashed a storm of controversy.
