Vladimir Putin and the History of Russia

Vladimir Putin has repeatedly threatened NATO and the West that he would respond to any intervention we're seeing. What's the risk that he sees an opportunity for him perhaps in escalating? Or is he just actually not so crazy as to want to attack a NATO country? That's the problem. It's one thing to be very bold on cable TV and on op-ed pages and to call for NATO imposed no-fly zone, NATO troops on the territory of Ukraine. It's another thing to call for that when you're sitting in the Situation Room.
