The flux architecture was announced in 2014. Facebook did put out a small utility library that tried to help with it. Dan Abramov had this idea for a conference talk, and he wanted to show off this idea of time travel debugging. He also wanted to make server-side rendering more feasible. Those were really the influences that went into Redux to begin with.
