The Yardbirds went on their first American tour. They were surprised to find that they were much bigger in the US than in the UK. The group also had a couple of recording sessions with Sam Phillips, who later produced Alice Cooper's Mr Yellow Betterman and I. Keith Goldman started drinking heavily to lose some of those inhibitions.
