The Early History of the Universe

In the very early universe, after about a microsecond, the universe consisted mainly of electrons, protons, neutrons, and neutrinos. The neutron was playing an essential role in building up the seeds of the lightest elements - we can see this today with stars like our Sun. A neutron has a half-life of ten minutes but if you've got lots of them, half will have decayed by radioactivity.
