The Acidity of the Oceans Is a Threat to Life in the Deep
The acidity makes it chemically much harder for organisms to grow their shells. These organisms sit right at the base of the food chain that all ocean life depends on. Danella says it's very hard to predict what this will do to life, but one thing is clear. If key species disappear, some of the most biologically rich areas seem pretty doomed.
