In seminar 11 there is that passage with the tuna can kind of bobbing around. LaCon makes as much to do about the gaze that the can embodies. The gaze is closely related to what Bentham to Foucault is doing with panoptic. It's the potential to be watched that disciplines us more than the actual fact of a prison guard staring at you.
