I am happy to set on the record now that when i said in all sincerity that the rules and dace had been followed at all times, it was what i believed to be true. That's not a good defence for a prime minister to be monting. Some genuinely think he's the best campaigner they've got. Others just a terrified of a leadership contest. Yowt that really opens up a civil war within the party. And so the public anger at the breaking at the top of government, they think, basely poisons the well.
