The Pathophysiology of Atherosclerosis

Athroscrosis, of course, is the underlying process that leads ultimately to vascular disease. It starts in childhood with a build-up of callestral which forms what's called fatty streaks. When this builds up it can progress into something much more malignant. And if there is continuing input of these bad, athermogenic, if lypoprotein particles, that can actually change the nature of the place. Most cases of heart attack and stroke involve this type of acute rupture and ultimately formation of a clot That blocks arterial flow.
