I think we forget just how much work we've grown accustomed to in a post industrial society compared to previous society, particularly if you go back to pre agricultural societies. I justread this amazing study looking at people's activity, kind of hourly activity, in hunter gatherer societies. And the most striking discovery was that they would spend something 20 % of their time doing nothing. That there was a huge block of time. It wasn't cust it wasn't just leisure versus work. It was actual sitting around doing nothing as was a significant part of the day - which seems unimaginable to us now.
