Is There a Disparity Between the Private and Public Life of Scientists?

There is a huge disparity between the private public lives of scientists and what they publish in present car fences. And I think it's been, it's been rather neglected in the philosophy of science actually this big divide. The individual epistemology has been at the center of Western philosophy at least since the early modern period but even while trying to accommodate the institutional structure of science. But that doesn't really capture anything any kind of reasonable train of thought that a rational human being would have because certain considerations have been put aside.
