Is There a Dialectic Between Progress and Decline?
In a both a progress narrative you kind of have a naive assumption that everything is getting better all the time. The really weird thing is to be in the middle space that maybe we're neither progressing nor declining but we're just in that weird space of becoming other to what we were before. There is a dialectic there where in the progressive dynamic something is coming to be and in the decline dialect something is ceasing to be.
