The Importance of Practice in Modern Philosophy

Platonists emphasize that it's sort of pointless to have a philosophy that isn't practiced. Do you think the modern, some, some modern neo-Platonism might have moved away from that notion? I'm not sure how we would retain it in an academic setting, at least.
