The Rise of the American Petroleum Institute
The American Petroleum Institute is now 100 years old. It's considered to be the first modern, sophisticated public relations oriented trade association in the world. The Institute faced its first big peacetime challenge when the U.S. Geological Survey sounded the alarm in 1919 that the country was going to run out of oil in just 10 years.
